Free 3D software

  • Google SketchUp – A free 3D modeling program for design and engineering professionals
  • Blender – A free open source 3D content creation suite
  • DAZ 3D – Free 3D software, models,  accessories and environments
  • Anim8or – 3D modeling and character animation program
  • 3DPlus – 3D design software from Serif
  • 3D Canvas – Real-time 3D modeling and animation tool from Amabilis Software
  • VRML Plugin and Browser Detector – VRML (.wrl) and X3D (.x3d) viewers and web browser plugins
  • Wings 3D – A subdivision modeler

Free 2D software

  • GIMP – Free GNU Image Manipulation Program for raster graphics editing, photo retouching and image composition. Similar to Adobe Photoshop. GIMP documentation: GIMP user manual and GUM
  • Inkscape – Open source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw
  • IrfanView – Freeware graphic viewer
  • Project Dogwaffle – A freeware version of the paint and animation program Project Dogwaffle and PD Pro Digital Painter
  • MeeSoft – Image Analyzer and several other programs
